about

“No Trust” was the original epilogue to the 2020 album “It Won’t Change A Thing”. A final reflection on the state of the world as perceived by a man who has fought hard. Recording political music is troublesome because it rarely brings a positive light to the subject matter. The album deals with oppression and facism through which we move collectively from later stage capitalism to post capitalism. “No Trust” begs the question who can you trust, and what does it mean if there is no trust.

Musically the track is modelled after the work of Roger Waters, subsequently Pink Floyd. Though its lyrical contents is intended to reflect Waters more than the band. The basic stems of the track was recorded and produced on a laptop in a semi-dethatched house in Sweden. Solo, chorus lines and bass guitar was added by the help of several independent musicians from the UK and Canada.

What makes the track relevant is foremost the message which is custom designed for the world of 2020.

It also proves that music produced under very limited conditions can sound like it was recorded and mastered at the worlds most renowned recording studios. This track was recorded, in large part, on a Samsung Galaxy S9 in my living room or occasionally kitchen.

lyrics

If you can't trust
the president
If you can't trust
the media
If you can't trust
the lies they tell
or write on the net

If you can't trust
your boss
If you can't trust
your wife
If you can't trust
your family
now that ain't no way of life

If you can't trust
the boys in blue
If you can't trust
the government
then what is there left for you to lose

If you can't trust
the priest
If you can't trust
the congregation
If you can't trust
in God
then you can put your trust in me

I still have liberty
I still have freedom
they couldn't take that away from me

My aching heart
I still have freedom
they couldn't take that away from me
